ロッキーズ日本語アカデミーは日本語と英語のバイリンガル教育を支援する日本語教室です。アメリカに住む子ども達を対象に継承語（*）としての日本語の維持と発展を目的とし、従来の学校教育にとらわれない、コミュニケーションを重視した日本語トレーニングを提供しています。
対象年齢は幼児から高校生で、スタッフには日本語を20年以上教えてきたベテラン教師、大学院で日本語教育修士課程を修めた教師、アメリカの公立小中学校や日本の小中学生への指導経験がある教師などもおり、コロラドにおける日本語継承語教育をリードしています。
*継承語とは、その国では外国語である言語を家族から引き継ぎ、家庭内で頻繁に使われる言語を意味します。
ロッキーズ日本語アカデミーは、毎週土曜日の午前中のみ授業を行なっています。全日制の学校ではありません。
The Japanese Academy of the Rockies (JAR) aspires to be a beacon of cultural and educational exchange, enriching our community through the immersive experience of Japanese language, culture, and tradition. JAR was founded in 2006 as a non-profit organization to provide support for the Japanese community in Colorado by teaching Japanese as heritage language to young children of Japanese families. Since then JAR has expanded to teach Japanese as Foreign/Second Language as well to a growing number of non-Japanese children and adults who became interested in Japanese language through popular culture. We dedicate ourselves to fostering a vibrant learning environment where students ages two to adult with all backgrounds can explore and embrace the linguistic and cultural tapestry of Japan, right here in the heart of the Rockies.
All classes at the Japanese Academy of the Rockies are held on Saturday mornings. We are not a full-day, five-days-a-week school.
